Deck Repair in Vancouver
Most decks do not need rebuilding. They need a few boards replaced, loose screws and nails reset, and a wobbly railing made solid again. That is the repair work I do.
I check the whole deck first and tell you what I see. If the frame underneath is rotten or the deck is unsafe, I will tell you honestly that it needs a deck builder.

What's included
Every job is scoped with you before it starts. A typical job can include the following.
- Replacing worn, cracked or soft deck boards
- Resetting popped nails and screws
- Tightening and repairing loose railings
- Repairing deck stair treads
- Sanding rough or splintered areas
- Preparing the deck for washing and painting
What Vancouver homeowners should know
Vancouver decks stay wet for half the year, so the usual problems are soft boards near the house, popped fasteners and railings that loosen over time. Repairs are best done before a deck is washed and repainted, so the new boards and the old ones get the same finish.
Common questions
Do you build new decks?
No. I repair and refinish existing decks. For a new deck or a structural rebuild, a deck builder is the right choice.
Can you match my existing boards?
I can usually get boards of the same size and wood type. New wood looks different until it is stained or painted, so many people repair and refinish together.
How do I know if my deck needs a builder?
Soft or crumbling joists, a deck that moves when you walk on it, or posts that have rotted at the base all point to structural work. I will check and tell you before you spend anything.
How do you price a job?
I look at your photos or come and see the job, then give you a fixed price for the agreed work before anything starts. If I find something unexpected, I stop and talk to you before doing anything extra.
Which areas do you cover?
Vancouver, Burnaby, North Vancouver, Richmond and New Westminster. If you are just outside those, send a text and ask.
What should I send for a quote?
A sentence about the job, two or three phone photos and your neighbourhood or nearest cross street. That is usually enough for a first answer the same day.
